The heaters are used in the float glass manufacturing process to heat directly the molten tin bath beside the glass sheet as in Fig. 4 and 10 and Figs. 3, 9,) not shown) or may be suspended in the roof of the reaction vessel (Figs. 11-14, not shown). In the embodiment described with respect to Fig. 10, heaters 39 maintain the temperature of the tin bath uniform whilst ,the surface of the glass is being modified by molten copper lead alloy 64 clinging to copper anode 60.
